(Can't) Keep walking

Flip flops and trainers are the only footwear I regularly use since I started teaching preschool, with a few instances where I wear Crocs shoes and my old sneakers. I hated the day I had to wear stilettos during Jing's wedding, good thing I didn't figure in any kind of accident. The good food made up for that suffering though.

Back to my point. My flat feet are no longer used to anything other than rubber or a flat surface. They cry out in agony when covered, much more when subjected to heights (e.g. heels). There are instances where I need to wear decent shoes and that's what I did when I met up with Agie in Greenbelt.

I wore brown pinstriped pants to go with my supposedly durable (albeit old) Bass dark brown sandals. I was running late, so I was kinda running-walking from MRT to Glorietta. And then I felt something - like something's amiss. I discreetly looked at my soles (lifting my heels of course) and I saw that the right heel was cracked and was about to give way to my weight! The whole left sole cracked in half. WTF?! This is supposed to be Bass! It costs too much to crumble like this! Now can you imagine how I was walking from Glorietta to Greenbelt? Very careful. Good thing my pants were a bit long so only my toes peeked out. And I sighed in relief when we settled in Bubba Gump and all the more when she offered to bring me all the way to the shuttle terminal after dinner. I got home with shoes still intact. Whew! That was close.

I vehemently deny that it cracked because of my weight. I'm not obese! Most likely the material crumbled due to lack of use. Maybe because of the intense heat too? My room is just like a sauna during the summer. Or maybe I didn't keep them in their box. Or maybe they're not as durable as I once thought they were. In any case, it made me feel bad because I really loved that pair, it just wasn't as comfortable as flip flops so I rarely used it nowadays. I hope my Bass boots don't suffer the same fate! :(

A statement

SBC at Festival Mall was the only place I could think of where I could kill time while waiting for my friends to pick me up. So I positioned myself at a side table very near the counter and the rest room. Wanted to be productive so I took out my notebook and started thinking about what to write in the anecdotal reports (rats! I forgot the form!) When deep in thought, I usually look up and I noticed the words written on the glass that's supposedly pointing at the seat across me - BEST BROTHER. Of course I shifted my gaze to see what's written above me. Guess what it said?

Why do I feel it's a statement of what is to come? Hahahaha! My exes may not agree, but the next and final one will surely attest to it (and thoughts become things, according to The Secret).

Reunited and it feels so good!

Who would have thought that I will be reunited with someone I've lost touch with for more than 20 years?! Agie and I go all the way back to Prep in St. Scho and even our parents knew each other from all the activities and birthday parties back then. I think it was me who added her on my Friendster list sometime last year but never really got around to having a decent conversation with her. We managed to exchange Yahoo IDs but it was only two weeks ago when she popped me a message and that's when the catching up started. It really feels good to be reconnected to people that matter, and we met up again at Bubba Gump last Tuesday after not seeing each other since high school graduation - I don't even remember if we greeted each other then but we drifted apart 4th grade and hasn't exchanged hellos even.

OMG. We really had a lot of catching up to do, I think we were talking a mile a minute hahaha! If only we didn't have work the next day, we would've stayed in a hotel and talk the night away. This is us now:

Saw her parents and they look the same from what I remembered! I think I better scan our old pictures and show them all to you. Laff trip yon! Would be nice for our families to get together for dinner and catch up on things. Surreal but overwhelming :)

Waxing nostalgic (pun intended)

I wax nostalgic when I remember my younger, carefree days - I didn't have to bother about fixing up myself because nobody notices anyway. You let your mom decide what you're going to wear and what kind of low-maintenance hairstyle you will keep (mine was the infamous apple bob back in my kindergarten year which definitely suited my very round face).

As you grow older though, the things you once thought were just "nice to have" eventually become needs. Moisturizers, facials, massages, and the supposedly ultimate test of the brave - waxing. Ask your (more conservative) moms, they'll surely be appalled by that idea and might even give you a spanking if they find out you ventured into such practice. Anyhoo, I refuse to get into details, but let's just say that it can be overrated. Relieved that I finally did it, and will probably be back for another in a month's time or so, unless I get myself a depilator.

Beach, here I come! :)

I signed up for PPP!

After this blog being declined for like three times or something, I'm finally in! Ever since I heard that I can make money from blogging (my favorite pastime) I immediately signed up for several paid blogging sites, but I was assured that it was easier getting into PayPerPost than the other sites. And here I am! Took me a while to get approved because I got confused with the number of posts needed at first. I had my good friend Mia to guide me throughout the process because she's getting paid already, and she was the one who first told me all about paid blogging or blog advertising. Thanks Mia, you're the best!

So now that I'm a Postie, I can't wait to get things started! I've been blogging since 2003 because I find that my room gets too cluttered with old diaries and journals from way back. At least I save on paper now, and it's a lot less tiring to type than to write. I mentioned paid blogging on my Multiply site and a couple of friends are now asking how it works, so I told them to go visit the PayPerPost site and learn the easy steps, and ask me if instructions get blurry :)

It's too soon to think about what I'll do with the money, but what the heck? Maybe I'll buy myself a Macbook. But it's going to take me a whole lot of approved posts then. Owel, let's see. This might just be my ticket to riches! And it could be yours, too! Hahaha! :)
